Soaked Oats

Super-easy oatmeal that's soaked instead of cooked. This is breakfast for those of us who burn things too often or don't want to watch the stove. So simple, so delicious!

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup rolled/quick oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp ground flax/chia
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • (optional) 1/8 - 1/4 tsp tsp turmeric
  • (optional) 1-2 tbsp chopped walnuts/pecans
  • (optional) 1 banana, sliced*
  • (optional) 1/4 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)*

What you'll do:

  1. Bring water to nearly a boil in a small pot.
  2. In a separate bowl, add oats.
  3. Once water is ready, pour over oats and let soak for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Drain excess water (if you want) and then add maple syrup, flax/chia, cinnamon, and (optional) nuts and banana.
  5. Stir well, split between two bowls, and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

*You can add any fruit you'd like. I prefer banana and blueberries for sweetness, but it's up to you.
