Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

My sweet friend Tammy posted a recipe for a pumpkin pie smoothie, and I thought it sounded incredible. As you may or may not know, I make a smoothie almost every day, sometimes twice a day. It’s almost always a green smoothie with lots of bananas, so the idea of adding pumpkin and spice to it intrigued me. So here’s what I did. Enjoy!

Feel free to add some protein powder (I use hemp) or some leafy greens to make this a green smoothie. It’s customizable and totally up to you. On a side note, I think this would be delicious with sweet potato too. My fellow blogger friend and smoothie drinker, Asheley, recommended sweet potato to me a while back, so I need to try it. Yum!

If you’re like me and looooove pumpkin (actual pumpkin, yo), then check out the rest of my pumpkin recipes! My faves are my no-bake pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie almond butter cookies, and pumpkin pecan muffins! Or check out the other smoothie recipes I have on the blog, like this chocolate smoothie!

Let me know if you try this recipe! Take a photo and tag me @fruitsohard on Instagram. I’d love to see your creations. Happy eating!

What you'll need:
  • 3 ripe bananas*
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree, fresh or canned
  • 1/2 cup nondairy milk**
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice***
  • 3 dates, pitted****
  • 8 ice cubes
What you'll do:
  1. Add the bananas, pumpkin, and milk to the blender. Blend until mixed well and smooth.
  2. Add the pumpkin pie spice, dates, and ice cubes. Blend until mixed well and smooth.
  3. Transfer to a glass and enjoy!
Recipe Notes

*Freeze bananas the night before to make a really creamy smoothie and then leave out the ice.
**If you don't have any nondairy milk, water will work. I used coconut water and it was still delicious.
***If you don't have any pumpkin pie spice, use this mixture:
-1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
-3/4 tsp ground ginger
-1/4 tsp ground allspice
-1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
****If your dates aren't soft and sticky, soak in warm/hot water for 10-15 minutes. Then drain before use.

  1. Melissa,

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by your question, but fruit sugar is so good for your body. I focus on fruit for calories, so I consume a lot of it. My body feels great when I do though, so I guess I don't "deal" with the sugar. There's no weight gain, bloat, or illness caused by fruit sugar if that's what you mean. :o)

  2. U answered my question it was if u gained weight due to the sugar in all the bananas I should of phrased better..my bad. Thanks for the response it was helpful
