I make smoothies a lot. Just about every day. They’re a staple in my diet because they’re quick, simple, filling, and delicious. And they’re a great way to hide the stuff we don’t want to eat separately because of taste (think turmeric, flax/chia, greens, etc.). We can make them taste like chocolate and enjoy it so much more! Here’s a recipe I make almost on the daily for breakfast or lunch.
Sometimes it looks really chocolaty. Sometimes it looks less brown. But it always tastes delicious! Even when we add greens, turmeric, and flax/chia. Because of the dates, everything is sweet enough that you can’t taste anything but chocolaty goodness. That’s the best part! But feel free to play around with it. Maybe add some cinnamon, cashews, or berries! Any of those sound delicious to me. 🙂 But definitely try it the way I’ve listed below, even with the optional ingredients. It’ll look more like this, but it tastes the same!
The walnuts make it rich. The maca gives it a hint of a caramel flavor. The bananas keep it creamy. The dates make it sugary sweet. And the flax/chia give you a good dose of omega-3s. The turmeric is great for anti-inflammatory purposes, and the greens are a powerhouse of nutrition! So try not to skip any of these yummy, powerful ingredients. Give it a shot. You’ve got nothing to lose. 🙂
