Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie

Today is RAWctober day 1. It’s a whole month of raw vegan eating. I don’t have a ton of raw recipes on here, but I’ll probably post more as the month goes on. Like this one! A seriously yummy and creamy chocolate blueberry smoothie perfect for some added sweetness to your day. Enjoy!

It’s super simple. Start with frozen bananas (or fresh, but then you’ll want to add ice) and blueberries (fresh or frozen – I went with frozen). Then add all of your mix-ins (at least raw cacao + dates for sweetness) and blend! Nom! Easy peasy. 🙂

You can enjoy right out of the blender or make this ahead of time for the next day. That’d be the perfect way to prep breakfast ahead of time. You could even put everything together the night before and then blend it all in the morning. Whatever makes your life easier!

A delicious, smooth, creamy chocolate blueberry smoothie filled with nutrients. The perfect way to start your morning, even on the go!

What you'll need:
  • 2 - 3 bananas (frozen preferred)
  • 1/2 - 1 cup blueberries (frozen preferred)
  • 1 heaping tbsp cacao powder (raw if you want this smoothie to be raw)
  • 2-3 dates, pitted
  • 1/8 - 1/4 cup raw walnuts
  • (optional) 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • (optional) dash black pepper (to make turmeric more bioavailable)
  • (optional) 1 tsp maca powder (raw if you want this smoothie to be raw)
  • (optional) 1-2 handfuls greens
  • 1 cup water
What you'll do:
  1. Add all ingredients to blender one by one. Then blend until smooth and well combined. If more water is needed to blend, add a little at a time to reach the right consistency.

  2. Pour into glass and enjoy. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when fresh.
