Hello there! Happy 2015! I hope you’ve been having a wonderful year so far. We’re four days in, so I wanted to check in and see if anyone was working on their gratitude chains. I made a general post about it last week, so if you want to check that out, here’s the link
Want to see mine? I’ll show you in a little bit. 🙂 For those of you who haven’t started, feel free to join in with us! It’s still early! And even if it weren’t, there’s never any time like the present to make some positive change in your life. <3
Like I mentioned in the intro post, the idea is to have a visible reminder of everything we should be grateful for. When we’re upset, angry, irritated, or feeling totally off, we can look at these chains and remember good times and positive feelings to help cheer us up and move us away from the negativity. So you’ll want to cut up some paper into strips and get some tape so we can craft our gratitude in 2015.
That’s my pile of strips for my chain and my first link! I date each one and then write a short note about what I want to remember from that day. Everything I write is positive, and you can ALWAYS find something positive in a day. If it ends up being the worst day of your life, you can still be thankful that you can get another chance at it tomorrow. 🙂
Next, you want to roll it up so it forms your first link.
Then you want to add to your chain each day! In the picture below, you can see the dates on each one.
Simple as that. Easy peasy, right? I just need to figure out where I’m going to hang this now.
If you don’t want to make a chain, you can always do what we’ve done in years past. Instead of linking them together, put them in a jar. You can keep the jar on a counter in your kitchen or another visible area. It’ll serve the same purpose, but it won’t take up as much space. Check out my post on Tumblr
about this idea.
In any case, this is 2015. It’s a new year, which is the perfect time to start fresh and clean out the clutter in your mind. Start with thinking positively and remembering the little things we can be grateful for. But don’t forget–it’s always the perfect time to start fresh. <3
If you’re making your gratitude chain or placing your thankful notes in a jar, please share it with me! I’d love to see it. And if I can be of any assistance to keep you motivated or help you think of some things to put in your jar or write on your next chain link, feel free to contact me. 🙂
Big hugs and all my love,
