I wanted something fresh, sweet, and really delicious, and a smoothie usually quenches that. Blueberries are a main staple in my diet, and they’re also fresh, sweet, and really delicious. So I figured I’d start there – with a blueberry pie smoothie. Smoothies are so refreshing! And it’s already heating up here in Phoenix, so this hits the spot.
(Sorry to the people who are experiencing snow! This was scheduled weeks in advance. My apologies.)
This smoothie is naturally sweet (all with fruit!), which makes it even better, but you can add dates or maple syrup to sweeten it up some more if you want. I liked it as is, so I didn’t add anything. And you can switch blueberries out for other berries too! The possibilities are endless!
We have a few smoothie recipes here on the blog (and more to come!). My favorites are my tropical green smoothie, pumpkin pie smoothie, and chocolate smoothie. They’re refreshing, yummy, and fun to make. So I hope you enjoy!

- 2 bananas, fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
- 1-2 handfuls greens (I use "power" greens - chard, kale, and spinach)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp ground flax/chia
- (optional) 1/8 tsp turmeric
- (optional) 1-2 dates, pitted
- 1-2 cups water
- (optional) ice
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender* (like a Vitamix) and blend until smooth.
Enjoy fresh, refrigerate to chill, or store in an airtight container for up to 48 hours.
*If you don't have a high-speed blender, that's okay. I recommend adding fresh bananas, water, and greens first. Blend that and then add the rest of the ingredients to make sure the greens get properly blended into the smoothie.
